Please note:  I do not have a relationship with any company to endorse products—any brands mentioned are brands I have personal experience with and like for myself or my family.  If available, I have listed products in my askyourfriendkira conceiving store where I do get a tiny portion of the sale price.

TAKE A PRENATAL VITAMIN!

Take a prenatal vitamin with at least 400mcg of folic acid.

Women who get 400mcgs of folic acid before they conceive and during pregnancy have been shown to reduce the risk that their baby is born with a neural tube defect by more than 60%.  Look for a vitamin you can take once a day-- vitamins can be a source of nausea when you are pregnant so experiment with the best time during the day to take one—most women I know choose after breakfast.  If your prenatal says to take on an empty stomach, consult your practitioner if you think that is causing you to feel ill.

SHOULD I BE SUPPLEMENTING MY OMEGA 3s?
Pregnant women need Omega 3s, but need to be careful of their fish intake because of mercury contamination.  You can supplement with a pharmaceutical grade over the counter capsule like Nordic Naturals.
Researchers strongly believe Omega 3s can help with the regulation of your cycle, therefore conception, and pregnancy.  A brand named Nordic Naturals are lemon flavored so you don’t burp a fishy taste.

RE-CONFIRM OVULATION

Use an ovulation predictor to help confirm ovulation (other ways to predict/confirm ovulation are explained in Taking Charge of Your Fertility).  One possible brand is the ClearBlueEasy Stick—read the instructions carefully!  The lines have to really match the visual examples in the package directions.

USE EXTRA SPERM FRIENDLY LUBRICATION
If you notice that your cervical fluid isn’t as moist as it used to be you may want to use a sperm friendly lubricant. There is only one: PRE-SEED. It’s a sperm friendly lubricant designed for conception.
Don’t use any other vaginal lubricants while you are trying to conceive-- they can slow down and interfere with sperm.  While some people suggest using egg-whites, there can be harmful bacteria in egg-whites.

HELP THOSE SPERM STAY COOL & HEALTHY
Make sure your male partner wears boxers, not briefs.
Bodies were designed to hold the sperm away from the body to keep it at the right temperature.

Give your male partner a multi-vitamin with at least 9.5 mg of zinc.
Daily zinc helps improve sperm count.
