speaking
I love speaking with groups and getting them as excited as I am about their parenting, their children and other children in their life. Often times, people really connect with themselves as a result of thinking about the issues they face as parents, teachers, and that their kids face every day.
A speaker can bring a bit of lively discussion to a group that already meets, or you can gather people together who share a similar interest.
Do you have a group of friends whose kids are all starting to talk about “sex” but many don’t seem to know exactly what it is? Or is there an ill member of the family and you'd like to gather with siblings and cousins to discuss how to talk about it with all the children? Plan an evening get together and let me lead you through a conversation that promises to be interesting and helpful.
Are you a group of teachers who want to explore different ways to praise student work in ways that encourage students to keep striving? Do you want to respond to student art in ways that aren’t about your own judgment?
Want to introduce something to a group but aren’t sure how? We can organize a talk around a book or a specific subject.
Depending on what we plan, I might start with a group writing or launch into the topic of the evening. I always make it easy for people to participate and draw out those who I sense have something to say but may not speak up right away!
