Congratulations! Bringing a baby into the world is a celebration of life as well as a lifelong journey.
This can be the first fun part! All of these suggestions are for the couple who wants to get pregnant, now. If you are not in a hurry and you want to stop using birth control and see what happens, that’s great! Put aside all my suggestions except for the folic acid and have sex!
Keep in mind, if you drink or smoke and would like to stop during part or all of your pregnancy, knowing that you could be or are pregnant helps—so even if you would like to get pregnant casually, planning has other advantages.
Know your cycle: it makes conceiving easier and will enable you to diagnose issues faster. How do you do this? The best way is to read the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility or spend time on their website.
